Type: Feasibility study
Client: Oslo and Bærum municipality, Statens Vegvesen
Program: Masterplan, Infrastructure, Public Space, Housing
Size: 600 daa
Location: Lysaker, Norway
Status: Delivered 2017

Team: Rune Stangeland, Henning Sunde
Collaborators: Norconsult, LPO, Aas-Jakobsen

Lysaker is defined in the regional plans as the most important transitional public transportation hub and gateway to the Oslo metropolitan area. Future developments include the addition of a metro stop, a regional train station, an efficient bus service, and a transformation of the existing E18 highway through the area.

Rodeo architects has collaborated with a large and multidisciplinary team to ensure the effectiveness of the infrastructure and to ensure the quality of  public spaces from a pedestrian perspective.

Main measures:

·       Raise E18 to reduce the barrier and reconnect the urban tissue underneath the highway.

·       Reduce the distance between the different public transportation options.

·       Restructure and simplify the local road network with focus on pedestrians, bikers, and ensure urban walkable public spaces.

·       Connect and prioritise express bike lanes through Lysaker.
