Rodeo has collaborated with COWI in a feasibility study for the future development of Sandvika’s Seafront. Currently, the character of Sandvika is strongly influenced by the E18-highway, which cuts through the town and creates a barrier between Sandvika and the Oslo fjord. The plan to bury E18 underground will remove this barrier and provide Sandvika with an opportunity to build one of the area’s greatest attributes by expanding towards the sea.

The development offers great potential for becoming the new “archipelago town”, right by the Sandvikselva (Sandvika river). A new boat-destination along the Oslo fjord!

Sandvika will be transformed as a result: the development will invite the town to the fjord, offer more people an opportunity to make Sandvika their home, provide the streets with new life and give boat enthusiasts a place to dock their sailboats while they enjoy city life.

Our vision relies on three main strategies:
1) Growing towards the fjord and transforming the existing areas of Kjørbo and Kadettangen.
2) Connecting the new development with adjacent housing areas and with Høvik.
3) Establishing a new boat destination.

All the new developments will be designed following ecological considerations. Shaping of the new housing areas is given by the  intrinsic logic of the water, to promote its circulation as much as possible. Landfilling should take into consideration the quality of the masses used and how it will affect the existing ecosystem.
